THe Top rock Song

Hi,
To write a song is tough ask. But to write a rock song is tougher. But when the song goes on to become a top rock song then the guy is really 'made for it'. ' Stairway to heaven' is arguably the most heard song ever.Jimmy page Robert Plant, John jones and John Bonham form the Led Zeppelin.

Here is a little piece of article flicked from the net. Hope you like it.

Though Black Sabbath was arguably a more influential band in regards to the history of heavy metal, no hard rock/metal discussion is complete without a mention of Led Zeppelin. Besides recording one of the most popular rock songs of all time ("Stairway To Heaven"), Led Zeppelin's back catalog has served as a blueprint for blues-based hard rock for decades. The list of instantly recognizable hits is staggering: "Whole Lotta Love", "Kashmir", "Communication Breakdown", "The Immigrant Song", "Rock And Roll", and on and on. The band abruptly broke up shortly after the unfortunate death of John Bonham in 1979, the remaining three asserting they could not continue without their drummer.
Led Zeppelin IV was the band's most musically diverse effort to date, featuring everything from the crunching rock of "Black Dog" to the folk of "The Battle of Evermore," as well as "Stairway to Heaven," which found the bridge between the two genres. "Stairway to Heaven" was an immediate radio hit, eventually becoming the most played song in the history of album-oriented radio; the song was never released as a single. Despite the fact that the album never reached number one in America, Led Zeppelin IV was their biggest album ever, selling well over 16 million copies over the next two and a half decades.

BEG, BUY, BORROW or STEAL. You must listen to it.

Enjoy rocking

GATTZ

Hey guys this is Mukku here. And to add to Gatty's AMAZING writup, here is the lyrics of the top rock song :

Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven

There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven.
When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for.
Ooh, ooh, and she's buying a stairway to heaven.

There's a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure
'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings.
In a tree by the brook, there's a songbird who sings,
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it makes me wonder.

There's a feeling I get when I look to the west,
And my spirit is crying for leaving.
In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees,
And the voices of those who standing looking.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it really makes me wonder.

And it's whispered that soon if we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason.
And a new day will dawn for those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter.

If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now,
It's just a spring clean for the May queen.
Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run
There's still time to change the road you're on.
And it makes me wonder.

Your head is humming and it won't go, in case you don't know,
The piper's calling you to join him,
Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow, and did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind.

And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul.
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold.
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last.
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll.

And she's buying a stairway to heaven.

Hi,

This much passion about playing guitar probably no one has it, I believe. The song below is rated as the second best rock song of all times. Listen to the lead and solo. Amazing... That's Hendx for you

All Along the Watch Tower(JH):

"There must be some way out of here," said the joker to the thief,
"There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief.
Businessmen, they drink my wine, plowmen dig my earth,
None of them along the line know what any of it is worth."

"No reason to get excited," the thief, he kindly spoke,
"There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke.
But you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate,
So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late."

All along the watchtower, princes kept the view
While all the women came and went, barefoot servants, too.

Outside in the distance a wildcat did growl,
Two riders were approaching, the wind began to howl.
